Applications must be completed in their entirety for consideration — incomplete applications will not be considered.

Distributor Membership

Any entity that is a wholesale-distributor of multi-brands of manufactured pet products (including pet food) to independent pet retailers* shall be eligible for Distributor Membership. The Board of Directors (or its delegees) shall have discretion to determine whether an applicant shall be admitted as a Distributor Member based on all the facts and circumstances, including, but not limited to:

1. The number of manufactures whose products are sold by the applicant to independent retailers.
2. The length of time the applicant has been in business as a wholesale distributor of pet products.
3. The number of independent retailers that recognize the applicant as a wholesale distributor of pet products.
4. The size and nature of the applicant’s warehouse facility and its location with respect to any retail pet outlet.
5. The type of catalog or merchandise listing that the applicant uses in the sale of the products it distributes.
6. The nature of the applicant’s sales staff and other services provided to customers.
7. The methods that the applicant uses to deliver products to customers.

*For the purposes of these R&Rs, the term “independent retailers” shall not include any retail outlet in which the applicant or any officer, director, employee or partner of the applicant has any direct or indirect financial interest other than through the sale of pet products or pets (as applicable).

Pet Wholesaler Membership

Any entity that is a recognized wholesale distributor of pets or live animal feed that is not principally engaged in the sale and distribution of pet products shall be eligible for Pet Wholesaler Membership.  The Board of Directors (or its delegees) shall have discretion to determine whether an applicant shall be admitted as a Pet Wholesaler Member based on all the facts and circumstances, including, but not limited to:

1. The source of the applicant’s pets,
2. The length of time the applicant has been in business as a wholesale distributor of pets or live animal feed.
3. The number of independent retailers who recognize the applicant as a wholesale distributor of pets or live animal feed.
4. Whether or not the applicant maintains permanent holding facilities* designed for the housing, conditioning and humane care of animals.
5. Whether the applicant maintains a sales staff and publishes pet inventory lists.
6. Whether the applicant possesses the requisite state, local and federal licenses, regulations or permits for purchasing, holding, selling or distributing pets.

Any entity that is engaged in trans-shipment activities shall not be eligible for Pet Wholesaler Membership. 

*For the purposes of these R&Rs, the term “holding facility” shall not include vehicles, trailers or the utilization of common carrier facilities for housing, processing and/or trans-shipping.

Manufacturer Membership

Manufacturer Membership is offered to any entity that

1. A recognized seller of pet products to wholesaler distributors.
2. Provides printed or electronic catalogues or merchandise listings.
3. Maintains a sales team or independent representatives.
4. Has shipped products to pet product wholesaler distributors for a minimum of twelve months prior to applying for membership in the Corporation.

The Board of Directors (or its delegees) shall have discretion to determine whether an applicant shall be admitted as a Manufacturer Member. 

Manufacturer Representative Membership

Any person or entity who/that is a recognized representative of a manufacture or of an entity providing services or products to wholesale distributors in the pet industry is eligible for Manufacturer Representative Membership.   

The Board of Directors (or its delegees) shall have discretion to determine whether an applicant shall be admitted as a Manufacturer Representative Member. 

Associate Membership

Any person or entity who/that is a member of the pet industry trade press or who/that sells non-pet products or services (e.g., technology, insurance) to pet industry wholesaler distributors or retailers shall be eligible for Associate Membership.  Persons and entities that merely supply raw materials or packaging products to manufacturers of pet products are not eligible for Association Membership.

The Board of Directors (or its delegees) shall have discretion to determine whether an applicant shall be admitted as an Associate Member.
